For Ben's 34th birthday, we went to see the Lakers vs. Clippers basketball game after a fun dinner at PF Chang's restaurant in Pasadena. Our seats were supreme (in the 112 section) and the stadium was full to its capacity: even the "nosebleed" seats were all taken! Needless to say, we had an exciting evening cheering for our team and, in the end, we got a couple of certificates for free Jack in the Box tacos being that the final score was 126/86. Go Lakers!

Vivian turns 18 months and my dad turns 60 years!

Today was Vivian's 18 months and my dad, Gonzalo, turns 60 years old tomorrow! To celebrate their special day, we took a trip to the Huntington Library. Vivian and her grandpa had a great time exploring the gardens, walking around together and eating fruit. Vivian enjoys walking while holding leaves, a stick or tree bark in her little hands and today was no exception. Upon arriving at the gardens Vivian picked up a "walking" stick and proceeded to find herself a collection of leaves along her path. We spent much of our time in the cactus gardens and later hiked down a trail within a jungle that had a small waterfall and river. As we walked over the bridge where the stream flowed, Vivian pointed at the waterfall and exclaimed "Agua!" At the bottom of the trail the river empied out into a small lily pond where Vivian sat on a rock. By this time, Vivian was so tired and hot from walking so much that she almost jumped into the lily pond! She must have thought that it was a big bathtub :)

The flowers were in bloom, the plants were green and the weather was very pleasant. All in all, it was just a beautiful day!

New Year's Eve 2009

We celebrated the New Year with my parents and Ben's mom, Lenore, at the Casino Night and party held at city hall. Lenore and I spent the night at the poker table while my parents walked around and danced on the dance floor. Benny volunteered to stay at home to watch Vivian this year and, as you can see from the photos, he knocked out early!

Here's the new doll stroller that Lenore gave to Vivian for Christmas. Despite the original purpose for this toy, Vivian prefers pressing the music button and dancing or listening to the music!

My parents, Gonzalo and Maria, bought Vivian her very first "pony"! It is a beautiful handmade rocking horse with leather and twine accents. Lenore says that at this age the kids want a pony and when they turn 16 they are asking for a Mustang!
